Big Chris a New Hero
Charlton Athletic 3 Sheffield Wednesday 2
It's tough to get news on what happens during Championship games, especially when you are abroad. Luckily I had a friend who texted me the final score, with the news that Chris Iwelumo's second of the game three minutes from time was enough to secure Charlton's first three point haul of the season.
What I dodn't know until I got home this evening was the drama of being 2-0 down at half-time, and the fight back to win.
Other blogs have now been read so I have gathered what went on - poor defending once more early on, injury to Thatcher, sub Zheng Zhi lifting the midfield, and Reid and Big Chris hitting the net with good goals.
I cannot really comment further as I haven't even got the goals taped. But what Pardew does seem to hint is that the transfer activity is not yet over and we maty se a couple of new defenders and maybe a couple of last seasons "heroes" (Bent and Faye) being sold off too. Personally, I am all in favour of getting rid of both players and think we desperately need to sort out the middle of the defence, where McCarthy, Bougherra, and Fortune have not seemed at all solid.
Tomorrow night, I get to see Charlton play live for the first time this season, and I am starting to get quite excited about the prospect!
